Library Trustee / Trustee of the Trust

I am running for a three year term for both Library Trustee and Trustee of the Trust in the wonderful community of Brentwood NH.

ABOUT MEGAN

Mom, Wife, Neighbor, and Pizza Lover!

Megan grew up in southern Massachusetts. Her family dreamed of moving to New Hampshire for as long as she can remember. We spend our vacations exploring communities around the state including Lincoln, Woodstock, North Conway. Some of my favorite childhood memories include learning to ski at Loon, exploring the Polar Caves, and looking for treasures at Ruggles Mine.

I was a preschool teacher for 12 years with most of my time spent in the older toddler room with the 2 and 3 year olds aka "The Pottty Training Room". I have helped to potty train over 100 children over the years.

Then in 2015 I transitioned to the tech world. I moved to Portsmouth, NH to work at a tech company on the water. I met my husband and when we were looking for a place to settle down and start our family, Brentwood was the obvious choice!

Our daughter was born in the summer of 2021. We have two dogs. We consider Loon Mountain our home away form home. When we are home one of my favorite pastimes is making pizza!

WHY I AM RUNNING

I have been interested in local government since moving to this small town. Growing up, and even in Portsmouth, local government seemed out of reach. Then Covid hit and I became pregnant which put my ambitions for local government on hold.

I chose to run for Library Trustee because my family loves the library. My daughter goes to story time and the brand new baby play group (Thursday mornings at 9:30 am, check it out!).

I believe the library is the heart and soul of the community!

Okay Megan, but why are you running for two offices?

I learned about the Trustee of the Trust opening after I had decided to run for Library Trustee. I believe my skill set lends to establishing processes that include various checks and balances while reduce redundancies and risk. I feel that these two positions are complimentary and allow me  to help our community in a multi-faceted approached

Candidate Statement

Dear resident of Brentwood,

My name is Megan Schneider and I am honored to be running for Library Trustee. I have lived in Brentwood since 2017 and have come to love this community and the people who call it home. I am married with a child who adores story time at the library. I currently work as a revenue operations manager for a global company. I'm proud to have been a preschool teacher for 12 years, and grateful that I had the opportunity to introduce children to the magic of reading and books.

One of the first things I did after moving to town was to get my library card. I remember being beyond excited to receive that yellow hand-laminated card. It reminded me of my first ski pass in high school for the local ski team, which was a fun and unexpected trip down memory lane! Some of my most fond childhood memories include the library, whether that be story time, renting movies, researching a school project before the internet existed. I am still proud of my research project about yaks for the animal alphabet in 5th grade.

I'm running for library trustee because I believe that libraries are the heart and soul of communities, and I want to ensure that ours continues to thrive and provide this essential community service. I believe that a library should be a welcoming place where people can come together to read, learn, and grow.

If elected, I will work tirelessly to support our librarians, staff, trustees and friends, all of whom have done and impressive job making our library such an integral part of our community.  I look forward to adding my skills and expertise to the projects ahead and having the opportunity to support this wonderful institution.  Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to have your vote in the upcoming election.

Sincerely,
Megan Schneider
